IEEE Pakistan Student Congress 2012 at GIKI




Pakistan Student Congress which was held in Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology concluded here on Tuesday.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), GIK Institute Chapter organised the congress and Dr Shaukat Hameed Khan, Executive Director of Society for the Promotion of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Pakistan was chief guest in the prize distribution ceremony.
The event comprised of seminars, workshops, competitions and social contests Approximately 180 participants, including girls of different Universities/ Institutions from all over country participated in the congress.
Dr Shaukat Hameed Khan who founded the laser programme in Pakistan and retired as Chief Scientist in 2005 from Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission said: \"The event was mutually beneficial and helpful for all the participants. Such gatherings always proved very fruitful for the students because they could discuss the new scientific developments and major technological changes occurring in the world.\" Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Pro-Rector (academic) said that that the students\' appetite for research, talent and tolerance are three important factors which give great boost to the youth.
Dr. Nisar Ahmed, advisor of IEEE, coordinator Usman Mushtaq and Faheen Aziz, a Pakistani student who is studying in Duisburg Essen University, Germany also spoke on the occasion. Dr Shaukat gave away shields and certificates to the outstanding participants.
